About Forest Edge ES
ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages)
The purpose of the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program is to provide English instruction and services for those students who are not proficient in the English language. Since 1975, FCPS has implemented ESOL instruction as the best way to provide access and success to academic achievement in school. ESOL teachers use specialized instructional techniques and materials to teach English to students whose first language is not English.
The ESOL teachers welcome parent volunteers to help their program run smoothly. If you’d like to help, contact our ESOL teachers, Karen.Tarolli@fcps.edu or Margaret.Maylott@fcps.edu.
Guidance Counseling
The counselors at Forest Edge Elementary School offer a variety of services to help our students, parents, and families. Guidance services include classroom guidance lessons, individual short-term counseling, and group counseling for children dealing with similar issues.
Students, teachers and parents can request to meet with a counselor to help with a crisis or short-term issue. And parents and family members are always welcome to contact counselors for information, and support of any kind.
The school also offers a Parent Resource Center, found in the hallway connecting the main hall to the library near the front entrance of school! The Resource Center contains a wealth of books and other information helpful to parents.

Field Day
Field Day is a half-day circuit of outdoor (weather-permitting) games for all grades to enjoy in June. It's the perfect gift to kids ready to play outdoors again with the fun summer days approaching -- there may even be a few water surprises.
